There have been some truly massive Google algorithm updates during the past.
The Google Panda, Penguin and Hummingbird updates were some of the largest and caused the most “volatility” in terms of where businesses ranked.
If a business follows Google’s EEAT guidelines and only ever uses exclusively white hat SEO methods then the businesses shouldn’t ever be hit by an algorithmic penalty.
Yet, sure it can still move up and down within Googles SERP’s.
So, if you were to ask our SEO experts how often does Google roll out a major update, we would say just a few times a year.
Yet, Google rolls out hundreds of much smaller changes all the time.
So this is why, when you hire an SEO company they really need to keep an eye on where your website ranks on Google at least once a week.
If they don’t, and the business moves down the ranks, yet the business continues doing more of the same seo that they have done, which caused the drop, well then, the business can start to move way down Google’s ranks, say page 3 or beyond.
Then the business will most likely generate no sales, via organic seo. Plus, it may take another marketing company sometime to get the business to recover and to get the company on page one of Google once again.
