Chat GPT-5 is finally here. Here’s how your marketing team can make the most out of it.

Chat GPT-5 is finally here. Here’s how your marketing team can make the most out of it.

August 13, 2025

What is ChatGPT-5?

Chat GPT-5 has been described as OpenAI’s “flagship model”, the best yet, like one of Tesco’s finest ranges. On August 7, 2025, it was released, replacing older models, such as GPT-4 and O series models, like the O3 model, which we particularly liked using. GPT‑5 will be available to all 700 million ChatGPT users.

Now, we have an “Auto” feature, which feels somewhat like having a car which once had a manual gearbox, where we could choose the gear we wanted.

We liked that, as we believe some models were better at doing certain things than others.

Now we have “Auto Mode”; ChatGPT has gone full automatic gearbox mode and selects the best model based on the user’s needs.

“GPT‑5 was released on August 7, 2025, replacing all earlier models including GPT‑4o and GPT‑4.5.”

“Fast answer modes” and “thinking modes”

GPT‑5 exhibits stronger reasoning, coding, and writing capabilities with adaptive response modes

You’re on the move, and you want to know how tall Big Ben is?

Fast thinking mode is just what you need.

Therefore, the fast-thinking mode is best suited for questions that arise in our minds as we go about our daily business.

However, the “thinking modes” are more reserved for more complex questions that require a more detailed answer, as they relate to something important to you or say the running of your business.

More polished

Chat GPT-5 has been described as being that bit more polished, which is a little vague of a description we know; however, it does resonate with users of the programme who use it a lot.

For example, it wasn’t that long ago that you could see from a country mile away the difference between a piece of content marketing written by a copywriter and one generated by an LLM in seconds.

Well, we think that, from what we’ve been told so far, an expert eye can still spot the difference; however, the gap is closing fast.

We are under no doubt, no illusion, that it’s only a matter of time before the written work produced by Chat GPT sounds so good that it’s as if it has been written by an expert copywriter who’s been paid big bucks to write a well-thought-out piece of content marketing.

However, for now, it still sounds somewhat robotic in our view.

Plus, let our top SEO agency give you an essential nugget of advice: don’t use Chat GPT to write all of your articles for you. This advice relates to businesses that care about their organic search engine optimisation (SEO).

For example, if you want that page to have a high Google E-EAT score, then it should be written by somebody who has real-world knowledge, expertise and experience in that matter.

Therefore, AI cannot substitute for that.

Supports longer contexts

Regular users of Chat GPT will know that it can be very good at writing text, but then it suddenly cuts off at around the 600-800-word mark and doesn’t want to write any more.

For  marketing companies, such as organic search engine optimisation agencies like ourselves, we prefer writing long-form content exceeding 2,500 words.

The long-form content marketing we create at our agency is similar to the excellent work done by SEO experts like Yoast, Backlinko, and Search Engine Land.

The articles there can be regularly posted by expert copywriters who write well over 2,500 to 3,500 words.

Therefore, one of the things our agency most wants to test is whether this new version of ChatGPT5 can handle writing more in-depth, evergreen content marketing.

We shall see over the coming weeks, if it does, we think this will be the most significant improvement to ChatGPT yet and the most noteworthy.

The main difference is that ChatGPT5 has an advanced reasoning ability.

When we used the ChatGPT 03 model, you could see in a live window how the AI was actively using reasoning to offer a more in-depth answer.

For example, it would ask itself questions to ensure that it’s answering the query in a more rounded way, offering a rounded perspective.

This offered a more considered and detailed answer at the end, even if you had to wait a long time to obtain it sometimes!. The Chat GPT 5 model utilises “multi-step logic problem-solving”, resulting in more in-depth explanations. This approach brings us closer to how a real-life copywriter would craft their work (but just not quite completely).

More up-to-date data

For quite a while now, Chat GPT has been able to live search to get up-to-date information.

However, most SEO agencies also believe that, at its core, what they use over at OpenAI is an LLM that answers questions mainly from a database rather than pulling up-to-date information from a web page.

So, in a way, this is precisely how Google’s algorithm works; it doesn’t automatically pull answers from a web page until it’s been crawled, indexed and ranked accordingly.

More human-like conversational flow

If you’re not familiar with the “query fan-out model” works, well, don’t worry; we’ll explain it all to you as you sit back and enjoy that green tea.

It’s basically when you ask one question to ChatGPT, but then you get a flood of more questions that you want answered after asking the first question.

Let’s give you an example of a question on our minds right now:

How do I make an apple pie?
Then you think, well, how much cinnamon spice should I add?
Then you ask, “Well, how long will this be stored for in the fridge?”

All of the questions stem from the first question (the query fan out model), and that’s what makes Chat GPT so popular, because you can keep asking follow-up questions.

Enhanced multimodal capabilities

“GPT‑5’s biggest upgrade is enhanced multimodal abilities—not just speed.”

Chat-GPT5 is said to have enhanced multimodal capabilities, which means that to answer a question best, it can present text, images, and even audio.

Fewer hallucinations

Have you experienced the previous models of ChatGPT having hallucinations?

Well, we certainly have; that is, it can start to make up facts that don’t relate to what we wanted the programme to write about. Usually, this can mean that it exaggerates the point, often making the business or the person sound like they have achieved something much greater than what they have instructed the programme to write about.

This is often called “illucinating”

It’s a bit like talking to someone who’s had a few too many drinks; they start to exaggerate and stretch the truth, depending on how drunk they are.

Can you list the main benefits of using ChatGPT-5?

Improved reasoning, as we touched on earlier in this article, ChatGPT seems to show enhanced reasoning capabilities now. Now, for those SEO experts out there, having a bit of a read of this article, they should know about Google Hummingbird updates and the Google Helpful Content marketing update.

Now, of course, ChatGPT-5 and Google are separate entities that work completely differently and independently. However, Google has constantly refined its algorithms, making the answers more precise. This took a giant leap forward since the Google Hummingbird updates.

Now, this is what we think is happening to Chat GPT-5 -the answers are becoming more precise, more accurate, and more helpful, just as Google’s search results radically changed after the Google Hummingbird update.

How can marketing teams / SEO agencies globally get the most out of ChatGPT-5?

We can only discuss how our SEO agency will be using ChatGPT 5. The reason is that some businesses might use the LLM to write all of their content marketing; we wouldn’t advise that you do this.

The reason is that you have to think about Google E-EAT, and the only way you can convey real-life expertise and experience is if a copywriter with fundamental knowledge on the topic is writing the work.

Infographic

In the past, you might have had to wait for a graphic designer to design a well-constructed infographic for your business.

This might have required multiple emails, a significant amount of time, and, of course, the expense involved in a graphic designer doing all of that work.

However, what Chat GPT is very good at is generating infographics in a short amount of time, in seconds.

Helping you add these visual elements to the work will make the text more interesting and engaging, which we believe will improve dwell times on the page.

Brainstorming

The best SEO experts often use tools like Moz Pro, Ahrefs and SEMrush to determine what to optimise their company website for.

Then, the SEO consultant should conduct competitor research over an extended period to gain a thorough understanding of how the direct competition has optimised their websites.

For example, asking how they have built backlinks, written content marketing, and improved the on-page SEO.

However, Chat GPT is beneficial for generating ideas that can spark inspiration for blog posts, potential page additions, and social media content for your business.

Therefore, many agencies will be using ChatGPT 5 for some brainstorming work.

For example, post titles for posts you’re going to make on LinkedIn.

In summary:

It’s been a long-awaited release; businesses, marketers, and tech experts have all been waiting for ChatGPT-5 to make its way onto the market. Well, it’s finally here, and as always, here at Walsh & Partners, we like to be ahead of the curve and show you how to get the most out of the latest AI tools.

What’s new in Chat GPT-5? What’s all the conversation about?

Sam Altman, the founder of OpenAI, has described ChatGPT-5 as akin to talking to an expert.

Talking to an expert about what?

Well, pretty much anything you like. This is what makes this latest model so great: now you have the power and at your fingertips a large language model (LLM); however, the output text is now more refined, more precise, more polished, if you like.

Would we use it at our SEO agency to write the complete article for a client?

Well, the answer to that is still a resounding no, we wouldn’t. The reason is that when it comes to Google E—EAT and satisfying the criteria of expertise, experience, and well, AI, we do not think it can come close.

Sure, A. I can illustrate, it can make up real-life experiences, it can dream, yet what it can’t do is replace the experience of a real-life plumber, talking about how we repaired a broken boiler at 1:00 am for a customer.

Therefore, here at this agency, we find ChatGPT immensely helpful; however, we do have to explain pretty early on that we don’t use it to write out blog posts entirely.

Better writing

Let’s say you want to write a proposal, a document that won’t be part of your online SEO work. Then, Chat GPT is amazing; it can save you time and mental energy, especially when you’re unsure about cooking a new cuisine.

However, now GPT-5 is even better; it writes more natural content marketing that flows and sounds Brilliant.

Coding

Chat GPT-5 is the bee’s knees when it comes to coding, and many AI experts say it offers a massive leap forward in terms of mathematical computation skills and coding capabilities.

Chat GPT 5, therefore, has advanced coding abilities, so whether you need help with your JavaScript or PHP, this handy tool can help you fix bugs and iron out problems with that code that would have otherwise kept you up until the early hours, wired, surrounded by coffee cups.

Whether you’re a web design expert or simply a business owner looking to modify your design, ChatGPT 5 has you covered. You can change a few elements of your website’s design, or you could push the whole boat out and make some profound changes, such as your mobile menu, homepage layout, or the colour of the header section of your website.

So, if you didn’t have a coding expert in your office, well, now you do. 24-7 Chat-GPT can be your coding expert, helping you fix bugs, make design changes, or even design a whole new website.

The relationship between search engines and ChatGPT-5

So, where does ChatGPT get all its knowledge from?

Well, talk to most SEO/AI experts in the business, and they will say that Chat GPT 4-0 has learned from Google and Bing. This is how Chat GPT is an expert on such a wide range of topics, because, well, it’s pretty good at reading most pages on the internet.

Being mentioned as a citation

Therefore, this is why the best SEO minds in the business say that there are serious crossovers between organic search engine optimisation and AI LLMs, as the programmes have read high-ranking pages.

Therefore, for your business to be mentioned as a citation, your company should rank high in traditional results on Google and Bing.

Search intent, Google E-EAT, and just being constructive

Again, this is where traditional SEO and optimising for the LLMs have powerful crossovers.

What we mean by this is that when you implement search engine optimisation to a high standard, you often tick off multiple boxes to make your website more visible to potential customers.

Here’s how

If the content marketing is of superb quality, this can mean the following:

– You will be making your content marketing helpful to customers (Google Helpful Content update will be satisfied)
– Your Google E-EAT score will be higher (this means you can rank higher organically)
– You are more likely to be cited as a citation in the LLMs like Chat GPT, making your website more visible.

The number of ChatGPT users is growing.

Good page structure

Sometimes the old methods of search engine optimisation are still important. If you go back, we mean way back, to the days of Google’s

PageRank, then good on-page structure was still necessary. Fast-forward to 2025, and it remains crucial to have a well-structured page that’s clear and well-thought-out.

It helps Googlebot and Google’s algorithms read the page, allowing crawlers used for large language models to do the same.

Make your business a strong brand.

Whether you’re optimising for Chat GPT5 or another LLM, you need to build a strong online presence for your brand. Now we realise that’s easier said than done; however, here are some steps you may wish to take:

– Have a strong social media presence
– Be a thought leader
– Publish content marketing that is the best in the business
– Get your business mentioned more (semantic web)
– Gain more links
– Improve your website’s UX, so dwell times increase, organic rankings increase, which means you rank higher on Google
– Make sure Google and the LLMs can index your website

Optimise for long tail keywords; this is still important

Chat GPT and other large language models use the “query fan out model”,- which means that people talk to Chat GPT a bit like they are talking to a real person.

This means the queries or the “search strings” are longer, wordier, and more conversational.

From an organic search engine optimisation perspective, and considering LLMs, optimising for long tail keywords is a good idea.

Plus, if you make your content marketing more “conversational”, more chatty and helpful, well, the LLMs may cite your work much more often as well.
