Google Search Console is like the instrument cluster on your car; it’s essential for evaluating your business’s search engine optimisation performance. If you want to know the number of impressions for a particular keyword, the number of clicks your business is receiving, and even the number of backlinks leading to your website, then you need a Google Search Console account.
Give your organic traffic a boost.
Many businesses use Google AdWords, a brilliant service offered by Google, to instantly get your business on page one of Google. Yet, some companies may need to spend 10k, 20k or even above 30k every month to get the visibility they need to grow their business to the level they need.
So, businesses often, over time, want to improve their organic search engine optimisation. Now, this is a long road, a very long road if you’re going after the very competitive keywords that thousands of other businesses want to rank for on Google.
Yet, the first stage in this process, before you even start working on improving your business’s on-page SEO, is to set up your company’s Google Search Console account. This is very important, and we are now going to explain how to do just that.
How to add a brand new user to your business Google Search Console account:
Appropriate permissions and limiting access for specific tasks
So, it has to be said that when our SEO agency takes over a new account to improve a business’s organic search engine optimisation, we want full control of the Google Search Console account. Limiting access may impede us from having knowledge of, say, new incoming backlinks that Googlebot indexes before a third-party SEO tool indexes, for example.
Yet this is not the case for some businesses; for example, giant corporations and multi-national companies may employ many different marketing companies. For example, a large brand may hire a link-building company, a social media marketing business, a team of organic SEO consultants, and a separate company to manage the company’s Google Adwords accounts.
So it’s then that the business often has to limit access to each company to sections of the Google Search Console account.
Here’s a quick run through the different levels of users that you can add to your business Google Search Console account:
Owner
The Google Search Console account owner will have total control and access to all of the properties within the GSC account.
This, therefore, allows the user to add or delete a user from the Google Search Console account and manage and change account settings.

You can also create a full-user
A full user permission
With full user permission granted to Google Search Console, what this means is that the user can do the following:
Disavow links.
They could, for example, disavow links, yet this should only be undertaken by an expert SEO company, as disavowing links can have a dramatic impact on the business’s search engine optimisation.
Submit XML sitemaps.
With your Google Search Console account, you can also add your business’s latest site map, which is often called an “XML sitemap.” This is essential as it tells Googlebot which pages/blog posts you want to crawl or perhaps not through a “no-index” code, which can help conserve your crawl budget for the pages you want to crawl.
Restricted user
It’s also possible to add a restricted user to your business’s Google Search Console account. The purpose of this might be for an SEO consultant or marketing agency to go in and take information from the Google account for SEO reporting. For example, a link-building company may have access to a list of the latest backlinks leading through to your domain.
So, how do you add a user to your business’s Google Analytics account?
Go to: Search.google.com
First things first, head over to Search.google.com
Then step two, go to “users and permissions”.

Click on the arrow next to “users and permissions”.
Then click on the “add user” icon.
Then click the add user button; it’s as straightforward as that.
The next step is to add your new user.
Then, all you need to do is add your new user’s Google e-mail account. You will be shown a screen that allows you to choose a permission level.
As we discussed earlier, once you’ve added the user’s e-mail address, you should select the level of access, either full or restricted and then click on the add button once you have determined which access you want to grant.

Check Google’s “users and permissions screens.”
Often, the new user won’t get an e-mail or a text message to say they’re a new user, but what you can do is check the “users and permissions screen”- there you will have a complete list of the users that can access your Google Search Console account.
Firing your SEO company- no problem, click “remove access.”
Suppose your current SEO agency is not cutting the mustard, so to speak well. In that case, you can “remove access”- this is critical to maintaining a current list of who you want to access your business’s Google Search Console account. So, when an employee moves on, or you hire a new SEO business, update the user settings.
